Hello Prep Green families and welcome to week 6! What a wonderful busy and exciting week we had in Prep Green last week!
Thank you to all of our dedicated families for beginning your popcorn words. It's so wonderful to see the children so excited about going home to practice them. Whilst the weather was a little different last week, I was so proud of how settled our children were. Fingers crossed this week we have some sunnier weather!
Please pay special attention to the messages below as we have a number of things going on in our classroom.
Family Photos
In HASS we are learning about families. Last week I asked for families to send in a copy or e-mail me a family photo at Majella.Ritchie@bne.catholic.edu.au
If you haven't sent in your photo, I encourage you to do so asap as our children will be talking about their families with the class this week. A big thank you to the families who have already sent in photos!
Illnesses
In the last week we have had a number of children with a stye on their eye. Please read the link below that has suggestions from Queensland Health on how to treat styes. If your child's eye is weeping please keep them at home. https://www.healthdirect.gov.au/stye
Class Vision Statement
On assembly this week, each class at St.Bernardine's will be presenting their class vision statement. This statement allows our class to share with the school how we will positively carry out the year and support each other. All parents are welcome to the assembly on Wednesday beginning early at 2:15pm.
Popcorn Words
The children are loving learning the popcorn words. Please remember that these words take time and whilst the children may know the words at home, I use a test that sees if the children can recognise these words in different contexts. If they do not know the word, it is not the end of the world. We encourage the children to keep practicing. The second set will be sent home this week. If your child does not have to move onto the next list unless you feel they are ready. I will be testing the children this week, if they know the word, I will highlight it. Thank you again for your support towards your child's reading.
