Hello Prep Green Families and welcome to week 7!
Last week we presented our incredible classroom vision statement to the school. In Prep Green we promise to lift each other up. Whilst promising to follow, act and promote our new school values, we also endeavour to show a positive attitude towards everything that we do. Our vision was inspired by the movie "Up" and recognising that we can be the reason others can smile. This has been greatly recognised in our classroom through the way we speak to each other, the way we act and particularly in the last few weeks in Project Compassion.
Thank you to everyone who has made a donation to our Project Compassion fundraiser. We appreciate every cent that is added towards making a better life for those who are less fortunate than us.
Popcorn Words
Thank you so much to our wonderful families who are continuing to practice the popcorn words each night. The new list was sent home last week and the children will be tested each Monday. I have been so impressed with the progress the children are making and their positive attitude towards learning them. Please be respectful and mindful of the testing process. Whilst your children may seem that the know the words at home, our testing is to see if the children recognise the words in different contexts. It is okay if the children don't move on as we have all year to learn these. Remember our children are only 4 and 5 years old and are doing incredibly well! We should be so proud of them!
Sickness
We still have many different illnesses going around the classroom. If your child presents with a temperature please leave them at home as it is important for our children to rest and get better so they can build up their immune system. Mr Gallen spoke about "Hero Zero" in the newsletter and the importance of recognising when to take a break and rest up.
Communication
Thank you to everyone who has been using their communication books and e-mail to contact me. A reminder that parents are not allowed down to the classroom during the school day. This is for a number of reasons. Firstly, our admin team need to know who is on grounds for safety reasons. If you are on grounds, you need to sign in at the office and be granted permission to go down to the classroom. If you are picking your child up early please go to the office first before coming down to the classroom. Secondly, our children become quite distressed when they see their parents coming to the classroom. They become unsettled and lose focus on their learning. If you need to pass on a message to myself here are the communication methods
1. Ring the office to pass on a message
2. Leave a note in your child's communication book
3. E-mail
Thank you in advance for supporting our school's visitor policies.
