Week 8, Term 1

We had an incredibly special week in Prep Green last week. I was so moved at how respectful the students were during our celebration of the Last Supper. Watching the children wash each others' feet and engage in a meal together was a truly special moment for our class.
As we come closer to the end of the first term, we will be finalising assessment. It has been wonderful to see the progress the children have made in such a short amount of time. I would like to remind you how important it is to be proud of your little one and try and celebrate their successes. Each child is learning at their own level and is constantly improving. Whilst some move faster than others, every single child in Prep Green is a superstar and Mrs Whittaker and myself could not be more proud to teach such a beautiful group of children!
KIT Folders
Your child's KIT folder contains important information about what's going on at St.Bernardine's. If there has been an incident or I need to communicate a message to you, I will write it in your child's KIT book. Please ensure you check this regularly so we can continue a smooth communication process.
Popcorn Words
List 3 will be going home this week. A reminder that the children are only tested every Monday. If your child has passed the test with a particular word, I will circle it. Please remember to continue to go over the words they have already passed. I encourage you to not circle the words when you think your child knows the word as our testing is to see if the children can recognise the word in different contexts. Sometimes this can take a little while for your child to pass and that's okay! Don't stress if your child has only picked up one or two words as this is a very new process for our children and it does take time.
Early Pickups/Late Arrival
A reminder that if your child needs to be picked up early that you need to go to the office first. We will bring your child to the office once you have signed them out through our administration team.
If your child is late to school please sign them in at the office and drop them at the entrance gate to the prep area. We constantly encourage our children to be more independent and it is important that the children continue to unpack their bags by themselves. If there are changes in who is picking your child up, please let us know either in your child's communication book or leave a message at the office.
Sickness
I have had a number of families inform me that their child has had a virus in the last couple of weeks. Thank you to everyone who has kept their child at home whilst sick, this has made a huge difference in all of our students getting better (and teachers too!). Remember that our little ones need plenty of rest!
