Welcome to week 7 Prep Green Families!
We had such a special week last week celebrating St. Bernardine's Day and Sorry Day. The boys and girls loved celebrating these two occasions and can't stop talking about the Bollywood Dancing they learned last week from the Arts Council.
Throughout the duration of prep and for the remainder of the year, we have been working hard on our fine and gross motor skills. Working on gross motor skills helps a child gain strength and confidence in their body. It also helps them exercise and participate in physical activity, which is important for a healthy lifestyle. Developing these skills helps a child's ability to do more complex skills in future activities.
We strongly encourage children to play outside when they get home from school and work on their gross motor skills. Below are some of the achievements we are working towards in Prep
- hopping on one foot
- jumping over small hurdles
- balancing on a beam with both feet and one foot
- climbing over and under
- standing on tiptoes without moving
- frog leaps
